Channel 33 Features Cowgirl Chicks and Mesquite Rodeo

Inside the Mesquite Rodeo

By Roni Proter/The 33 News

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to ride a bull, be a rodeo clown or stand on a horse traveling 30 miles an hour while crowds cheer you on? The team at the Mesquite Rodeo welcomed me to the arena to show me some of their tricks and show me the ropes.

I first met with the Cowgirl Chicks, led by Trish Lynn, a group of young women tougher than any cowboys I’ve ever seen. The train rescued horses who have been neglected or abused. And what they can do on these animals is remarkable. They showed me some of their tricks, from the Pony Express to the Fender. One trick rider even stood on two horses and jumped a rod. With grace and courage they ride, and they taught me a cple of simple moves. I was incredibly impressed with their skills and atheticism!

Then Rudy Burns, a rodeo clown, put make up on me and got me dressed in a funny get up. And while it looks silly, his ob is serious. The 40 year rodeo veteran is responsible for keeping cowboys safe ehwn they’re bull riding. He showed me how to jump into a 100 pound aluminum drum that bulhit and pound when they charge the arena. He even has a scar across his chin that took 40 stitches to sew up after a bull attacked him. His love and respect for the animals he works with is remarkable!

All American Cowgirl Chicks Engaging in Tricky Business

BY CAROLINE HARPER

The Death Drag. Under the Neck. Hippodrome Stand. No, those aren’t yoga poses. They are just a few of the tricks executed by Trish Lynn and the All American Cowgirl Chicks.

Cowgirl Chicks Featured in Parker County Today

Though she grew up loving to sing and dance, Lynn also grew up around horses, and has always considered herself a true cowgirl. She was born and raised in the Fort Worth area, but moved to Weatherford when the urban sprawl threatened to turn her into a city girl, even if just geographically. She pursued her childhood dream of becoming an entertainer and by the age of 18 had recorded her first album and had four hit singles. The music business, however, proved to be tougher than she had anticipated. But, she always had her ranch and her horses in Weatherford to come back to. While her music career was on the backburner, Lynn focused on her passion for riding.

“I never lost that love for horses,” Lynn said. “I just think they’re awesome animals. I think it’s a wonderful way of life to live. I think it’s a healthy way of life to live.”
As a long-time horsewoman, Lynn had long admired the Catalena Cowgirls, a rodeo drill team out of Bryan/College Station. She decided that she would like to put together a rodeo drill team of her own, and so she did. But, ever the entertainer, she wasn’t content to delight her audience with precision horse drills. She wanted to wow them, and trick riding was just the thing.

Cowgirl Chicks partners with Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment

Cowgirl Chicks partners with Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment: Top US Farm and Ranch Equipment Manufacturer Begins Working with Rodeo Entertainment Phonemes

April 4, 2011 Dunnville, KY — What do you get when you mix hard work, a commitment to excellence and a tireless spirit? Success. Both Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment and the All-American Cowgirl Chicks rodeo entertainment both believe that on the road to glory, there are no short cuts. And both are thrilled to announce they will begin working together in 2011.

Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment and the Cowgirl Chicks both have proud histories and strong futures. Founded in 1945, Tarter is still managed and owned by the Tarter family, and is one of the most financially strong companies in the agribusiness-manufacturing sector. The Tarter family manufactures quality products that are built, used and trusted by ranchers and farmers across the world.

Similar to Tarter, the Cowgirl Chicks are a team with a story, a style, and a vision all their own. They know what it is like to start from the ground up, get dirty, get knocked down, and take something that no one believed in and turn it into a something. The team’s horses are an integral part of the Cowgirls Chicks’ success. These horses were once turned away, given up on, or abused. With time and dedication, the girls turned these rescued, “problem horses” into true champions. The all-female team performs trick riding and stunts in over 85 performances across the United States.

Tarter Farm and Ranch and the Cowgirl Chicks know the importance of having reliable equipment. In order to keep their team of athletes on the road, the Cowgirl Chicks offer training sessions for horses and students at their ranch in Weatherford, Texas. It takes a lot of hard work and even hard-working equipment to keep the ranch running and the show stunning. Cowgirl Chick’s founder, Trish Lynn explained, “Not having the right equipment can be a matter of life or death for us. The stunts we perform are extremely dangerous and we need to rely on our horses, ourselves and our equipment. We know we can trust the durability and reliability of Tarter products.”

“We are impressed by the spirit and commitment of the girls. They are truly inspired to inspire. At Tarter, we know that over 50% of folks who use our products are women, and we want to make sure we are not just hearing women but really listening to what they are saying,” said LuAnn Tarter, who is a senior leader at Tarter. “This partnership is a great fit for both of us.”
Tarter and Cowgirl Chicks look forward to joining forces to help promote a “life well-lived” in the Rodeo World in 2011 and into the future.
